Received at NSC on June 1st (I think... never took tracking# from attorney).

Well, even the traffic/speeing violation may become a crime. It just depends on how many times you keep doing it !
I am sorry stucklabour but a traffic/speeding violation is a misdemeanour and not breaking the law. Being in this country illegally is actually breaking the law. Now i am not going to get suckered into a whole legals v/s illegals debate, but at some level i do feel that undocumented workers HAVE broken the law. Besides the argument that "everyone does it" really doesnt cut it. 10 wrongs do not make 1 right. If you look at the punishment for the 2 things a speeding violation leads to a simple fine, a violation of Visa leads to deportation.
Now i personally dont care, whether the US Govt asks the undocumented to stay or leave. What i DO care about is, how we, the legals are treated. So whether the illegals are mexican, indian, chinese, cambodian or actual aliens from Mars, the policy should be: "If you come the right way, you will make it in, if you come the wrong way, you will either NOT make it in at all, OR will have to wait much longer than the people who came in the right way". So poeple pls stop the "racist" remarks against Just the Mexican community and culture. On the other hand the moderators too have to understand that everyone here does have a right to express SOME opinions regarding the undocumented/illegal immigrants. When you see urself and people doing things the right way waiting for years, as opposed to people doing things the wrong way being literally gifted Green cards, it does raise anger and frustration levels.

Basically optimistic projections predict that 1 million high tech new jobs are created in a good economy in 10 years time. That means 100k per year average. There are 85k H1b and another 80k L1b are coming every year to USA. Also some of 140k immigrants are new. So Opt and TN visa unlimited number of persons. Apart from this there are some USA people are studying here and trying for job. And number of Indian students also increasing gradually. For the 100K high tech jobs 500K persons may compete. If they expand H1b it is going to increase the compettion. Nowadays resume of inexperienced persons are much more attractive than those who are really working(So many thousands of fake resumes). I do not know how it will end

I did try to talk to customer care but it was of no help.
They tell me to wait for 30 days and sometime 60-90days.
They say you will become actual permanent resident when you get the card The card is important.
You now USCIS don�t know when they will change their minds.
To better be on safe side to get it stamped on my passport. I took info pass on 8-11-08 it will be almost 30 days,

As replied by Desi3933, it is incorrect to my knowledge. Approval notice it self is a proof that you are a Permanent Resident. The stamp in the passport works for us till we get the physical card. I think you will get it on 9/11/08 9Infopass appointment date).

you properly instead of going thru' multiple lawyers . Write a letter to the state senator an explain your situation.Last but not least remain positive. God is there with you and your family.

I am in same situation who has sept 10th ND from TSC , no FP for me or my wife. I did open a SR and i got a response letter saying that either your FP has expired or clearance has not been received.. will send one by mail soon.
It has already been 45 days since the letter was dated. NO FP nothing.
Has going to IO helped anybody is getting a FP notice? That seems my last resort.
No update from my side. I had called last week and week before that. Apparently I got the same IO the last two times and first time she told me no FP scheduled , security check cleared. Second time she said no FP scheduled and I asked about security check and she said its still pending. Imagine same IO giving inconsistent information regarding my security check. I am not even sure to believe anything they say anymore. I am not even sure if they really look it up or not.

I totally miss your point: why is ending retrogression bad? Because all 800K people might get the GC within 6 months? Whats wrong with that? Its not fair to those who have waited longer than others? Dont be a member of the "just because I suffered I want everyone else to suffer" That makes you no different from that talkshow host (who is now a citizen) on the radio channel recently who said he waited 10 years to get his GC, so everyone else also should, otherwise its not "fair"
Or, are you mixing up ending retrogression with making dates current? No thats not what we want. We want dates made current after the visa supply = demand. Just making all VBs like the July VB is pointless, and does lead to lots of uncertainties. By ending retrogression I mean making sure we have enough visa numbers for all who have been qualified by DOL (LC) and USCIS (I-140), by:
- ending per-country quota
- not counting dependents
- recapturing wasted visa numbers.
I think we are talking about the same thing. If you see my post carefully, I clearly mentioned that I do not support lifting retrogression if the annual quota limit continues. I will be more than happy to see all quotas lifted and everyone gets GCs tomorrow. But I will not be happy if a 2007 person gets the GC tomorrow and I get mine after 5 years. My understanding is after 180 days of 485 filing, even if the employer revokes the approved 140, the 485 application does not get affected if you apply AC21 and let USCIS know that you have changed employment and the job duties are similar. Is it true? or is there is any risk if employer revokes 140?

All checks cashed June 8th. It was sent to Nebrasks. I hardy just could read the SRC letters in back of my check. Online image in not good. I guess it has gone to Texas sercice center.
