I have mulled over different options in my head for a long time. Here are some things I came up with:
- switch to a part time H1 (and do something else in your free time that you might find a little more fulfilling, i.e enrolling in PT grad program, starting a business (which you CAN do on an H1!!!), travel!!). I know there is the money factor but most of us are IT people and hopefully taking a cut will be worth the improved life.
- begin your Canadian PR process. This takes a lot less time and honestly, I think Canadians are more cultured anyway. Leave these people to their Paris and Nicoles :)

I do not think IV is standing alone on this issue. I think that IV is making alliances based on our membership size, funding and reach capabilities. Many times when such alliances may be formed, the other side may not want to be identified in the media. This is particularly true in the current political climate where each side is out to villify the other. I believe that as individuals we should keep creating more awareness among fellow retrogression sufferers and GC applicants alike. I find it amazing that there are so many applicants out there who have not heard about IV. I keep meeting people who suffer from so many retrogression issues and then again they are doing nothing to fight it.

It seems like the deeper we are in the process of GC the more time we spend tracking and speculating on the next week or the week after.
This week is going to be critical for the Notices because if we don't get them by 8/17 the following weeks are going to be even worse.
I'm tempted to call because of the time that has passed and becasue my checks also are dated 6/15.

This is true. A majority of the Dems are sensible people. BTW, although they are against outsourcing, they are not against immigration. The two issues are quite different.

On h1b u can start any business as long as the investment is passive. (something like investing in stocks, real estate etc) You cannot actively work for your business. The same applies to h4.

Guys,
It's almost 3 weeks today since I've opened SRs for my self and my spouse for not receiving FP notice and we haven't got any notice yet.
I want to know if some one who opened a SR for FP and did not receive any FP notice after the wait period expired, what did you do? Is taking an infopass the next step for missing FP notices or just wait and watch?

Buddy, it looks like its only you and me remaining who has not received the FP notice. For me its been 30 days since opening SR and nothing. We are the unfortunate ones who have not only not received FP but our application are in TSC , where opening an SR is of no use.
We may want to try a different strategy to inquire about our FP rather than calling that number floating around which is of no use to us. All I got from calling that number was WAIT , Local ASC must be busy.
I am not sure InfoPass appointment will help, but hope its worth trying.

The country cap is routinely disregarded for the unskilled EB population when any talk of CIR comes up. Point is to say that it's not unrealistic to ask that it be suspended as a one time event if not permanently. Of course, as with any democracy the reason why the unskilled EB population has more success with this issue comes down to votes and money, so that is something to keep in mind - IV is the wrong forum from where to push this agenda.

Zeta, congrats on ur successful landing and more so due to non-issues at the US side. I completed my landing in May, 2008 and its been about 4 weeks and my friend in Canada hasn't received the card yet. So, I'd assume its common. Yes, as u r not earning any income, there r no tax filing issues. Have u also applied for a SIN and opened a bank accnt? I've done neither. I just did the landing (was barely for about 30 mins in Canada), took a U-turn and came back to the US :). Unlike u, I used AVR to return back to US.
Yeah, I applied for an SIN card, and received a temp number as well at the same time. I didn't open a bank account however. Hope we receive the PR card soon, then at least the angle to the north is taken care of for the time being.

Yes, I do have an update. See my posting the Lawsuit thread.
Note:
This Lawsuit Idea is on hold for the following reasons:
a) Not enough interest in the affected parties
b) Cost of the litigation would be upwards of around 30K
c) The counsel has recommended to hold discussions with USCIS official first and give them sufficient time to respond to our concerns.

Tell me what wrong he did for him to apologize and I will apologize to you. When nothing is permanent he worked with them for 1 and half years, he got them 4 employees. Why in the world should he apologize?.
When you say that you will not need your clients you are wrong. when I was searching for projects I got a chance to apply to a job opening in one of my previous client, guess what, the start to my second stint was smooth just because I had a good rapport with my client and they liked my work. I even got one of my team mates in my client place to give me a referral for my higher studies.
"Your ex boss is not a bad guy, he knows you are leaving for better opportunity".He is not only a bad guy, he is evil IF (note the big IF) he is keeping the money which is not his. Their conscience should prick when they feed and give excellent education to their kids with the ill gotten money.
Unfortunately one might need his ex-employer in future (might not always be the case) and that is the irony of it all.
I feel the same..you will always need the ex clients than ex employer.

Appointment letter is good enough for green card purposes and as far as reference letter, I always got them from client.
There are 2 issues.
1. Getting back the salary
2. Non compete agreement.

My lawyer says it is usually vague and if USCIS determines other wise I will be in trouble. And for the same reason I am hesitant to accept very good employee offer from my current client.
3. Self employment is ok as long as the requirements are met and that is what is I am doing now.
I changed my job twice using AC-21 informed USCIS once, I don't see any risk itz a law, as long as you are able to produce paperwork that your current job is similar to previous one you are safe, any decent employer would give you a supporting letter (oh ya exluding blood sucking desi pimps).
I find many guys calcluate too much and let go good opportunities, get real guys no one is behind you if you have job and not done anything wrong,
